MEAT PIE

MEAT PIE
A meat pie is a pie with a filling of meat and often other savory ingredients. They are popular in United Kingdom, Ghana, Nigeria, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and South Africa. Wikipedia
It can be served in any and every occasions, the recipie can be altered to your taste or preference especially the fillings, I decided to post this recipe yesterday, when I stopped by a roadside store to get Meatpies because i was very hungry, fortunately for me I bought one, it was a far cry from the Meatpies I know, it could have been referred to as flour pie, there was nothing inside the pie, I was angry but then I realized not everybody knows how to bake a good meatpie.

RECIPE
EQUIPMENTS 
  • Rolling pin 
  •  Knife 
  •  Chopping board 
  •  Meat pie cutters 
  •  Pot or frying pan 
  •  Bowls
  •  Sieve
INGREDIENTS

  • Flour. 500g
  • Butter 200g
  • Salt.    
  • Maggi (chicken Benny or any) 
  • Water
FILLINGS
  • Minced meat 
  • Onions diced
  • Irish potatoes (diced or marched) 
  • Cabbage (optional)
  • Carrot (diced tiny)
  • Seasonings (Maggi, curry, salt, grinder pepper)
  • Vegetable oil (half soup spoon)
METHOD
  1. Boil your Irish potatoes in salty water, drain water with a sieve and marsh.
  2. Put a clean pot or frying pan on the fire, add the vegetable oil, allow to get hot, add the diced onions and stir for a while, add the fresh minced meat, stir for some time, allow to cook for 10 to 15 minutes and add the seasonings (salt, Maggi, curry, and little grinder pepper, add the diced carrot,the marshed potatoes  stir and allow to cook for five minutes, add the slice cabbage (optional) if okay, bring down and allow to cool down before usage.
  3. Sieve the flour into a bowl, add a little salt, maggi and butter, mix together with the rubbing in method, till the butter mixes well with the flour and they are inseparable. 
  4. Add little water and mix to format a hard dough, allow the dough to rest for 5 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle little flour on the table, roll out the dough with the help of your rolling pin, cut with the meatpie cutter, place the fillings inside the dough water wash the edges lightly and close, the water acts as a glue, the egg wash.
  6. Grease the baking tray lightly, put in the oven and bake till golden brown.
